- Maintain turf areas by mowing, trimming, watering, spraying for weeds and monitoring irrigation system.
- Maintain campus grounds in clean, neat condition by removing leaves, fallen branches, and miscellaneous debris/trash from lawns, walkways, roadways, and parking lots.
- Planting of trees, flowers and shrubs. Prune, water and fertilize as directed.
- Maintain landscape beds: weeding, watering and mulching.
- Remove snow and apply melting agents to entrances, walkways, parking areas, ramps, docks and roadways.
- Assist custodial staff in inclement weather and various event set-up.
- Maintain company decorative water features.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for duty.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Dependable and able to maintain the attendance required to perform the job.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend and fully understand: SOPs, SDSs, labeling, safety and health regulations, and procedures within the job, this job group and the plant.
- Ability to operate computerized equipment, read scales, recognize product problems, malfunctions and patterns out of specification.
- Proactivity and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must have basic knowledge and understanding of landscape power equipment which would include mowers, weed-eater, chain saw, utility vehicle, truck, trailers, snowplow, bobcat and other hand tools.
- The job is in a dusty and dirty environment.
- Working in a hot and/or cold environment.
- Noise is sometimes loud but usually moderate.
- Shift varies from early morning start and weekends
- Required to wear respirator, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
- Must be able to qualify for and wear a respirator.
- Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and pulling.
- Occasionally lifting to 100 pounds.
- Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
