Forklift Operator

Do you have a pleasant personality, an aptitude for mechanics and love the satisfaction of completing a task? The Times Union is looking for a full-time Forklift Operator to join our operations team.

Primary Duties:

• Safely load and unload trucks as required
• Maintain accurate receiving and shipping records
• Inventory and stage preprinted insert products
• Newsprint scheduling, receiving, storage and inventory management
• Lay down and prepare required newsprint for press use
• Collect, organize and store all recyclable materials
• Receive and distribute incoming packages
• Assist other departments, including Hearst Media Center as required

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• Communication skills must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with delivery personnel, employees, and managers both verbally and via email.
• Mechanical aptitude - Must possess (or be willing to be trained and pass a test to acquire) a valid forklift operators license.

Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. plus 4-hour shifts 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every other Saturday (alternate with Lead Fork Lift Operator) after the training and certification period is complete. Hours can vary based on training, production and vacation coverage needs.

Pay: This is a union position. Pay starts at $20.00 per hour and progresses with experience and any applicable contract terms.
