General Description:
Under the direction of the Assistant Grounds Maintenance Superintendent/Arborist. Performs a variety of park and semi-skilled maintenance repair/cleaning activities on park structures and facilities.
Essential Functions of Work
- Performs variety of park and semi-skilled maintenance repair/cleaning activities (e.g., minor electrical repair, rough plumbing, basic carpentry, painting) on park structures and facilities (e.g., shelter houses, restrooms)
- Assists park visitors by providing routine information
- Performs grounds/area maintenance (e.g. mows grass, trims trees, picks up litter, maintains hiking trails, removes snow, sweeps/washes shelter houses)
- Maintains athletic turf areas as directed, ball field maintenance
- Operates large area mowers, truck with trailer, tractors, backhoe with loader bucket, zero turn mowers, trimmers, push mowers, hedge shear, chainsaw/pole saw
- Performs routine maintenance and makes minor repairs to trucks, mowers and other heavy equipment (e.g. lubrications, changes tires/belts, sharpens mower blades)
- Repairs/services hand tools, chainsaws, etc.; documents maintenance performed
- Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties
- Participates in staff development activities and services review procedures; attends staff meetings and supervisory conferences
- Maintains required licenses and/or certificates
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent six (6) months experience in use of shop, hand and power tools
- Six (6) months training or experience in the operation of mowers, tractors, and trucks
- Six (6) months experience training or experience in equipment safety practices
- Six (6) months training or experience in equipment/vehicle maintenance or equivalent combination of training or experience
- Possess a valid Ohio drivers license
- Possession of a Class B Ohio Commercial Drivers License with passenger endorsement valid in the state of Ohio or must obtain one within twelve (12) months of employment and to maintain it
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
Possession of a Commercial Drivers License CDL (Class B) with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of employment

Working Conditions:
- Medium: lift, push, pull 20 to 50 pounds occasionally; 10 to 25 pounds frequently
- Ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds
- Is exposed to environmental conditions which may result in injury from fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and/or poorly ventilated work areas
